Elcot is indeed a government organization of the state of Tamilnadu in India. They have been deploying loads of Suse installations so they have an incentive to get this economic model of scanner working on linux.

Hi.

Some Brazilian guys made a .deb package for SJ 2400. Here:
http://www.vivaolinux.com.br/dica/Instalando-o-scanner-HP2400c-no-Debian-Linux

The only thing is that you still need to edit the /etc/sane.d/dll.conf file...

Good luck!

Hi -- sorry, I don't know of any easier way to do this. I've rarely compiled programs myself and have avoided it in the past, but with the few that I've tried (like this one), it's turned out to be less painful than expected. Usually if there are errors, you can get a good clue to what supporting package you need, and they are usually easy to install via apt-get. It might be worth your time to dig around a little bit. You might be surprised!

Thanks for posting this help.

But I am having a problem: I am not able to compile, I always have trouble making it and I haven't been able to compile the first program till the actual date.

So I only use programs that are ready to install, it means *.deb packages or *.rpm (converted to *.deb via Alien).

So is there a place where I can find the drivers or programs to make the hp2400 scanner work in Ubuntu 9.04 (jaunty jackalope) ready to install?

Thanks for your attention,
