That sounds like what Erik saw. But it clearly works for me, so this is kind of disturbing. Please let me know if you find something -- I hope you were experimenting on copies as recommended!! Yikes. I was looking for a way to rename my pictures, and the script was ok, but when I tried the rotate script, the file was destroyed, ending up in 0 bytes. If I can find out what did this I'll get back to you. Henning Larsen Hi!

It definitely worked this way for me, so that's strange if the documentation says otherwise. I just tried it again on the command line and verified it works with out=in. I skimmed through the man page and didn't see anything about a problem with overwriting the input file. (It very often is true of course that mixing the in and out params for a program like this will cause the kind of behavior you mention.) I'd like to investigate more, but don't know when I'll have time. Thanks for commenting -- that will at least serve as a caution if anyone else see this. I must be insane... because nobody else seems to have the same problem, but for me your script doesn't work -- and actually should not work! Having the "outfile" as the same as input file with jpegtrans doesn't work. It just creats an empty file. And that behaviour is 100% documented with jpegtrans. How can it work for you? Fedora 8 with "default" jpegtrans and jhead. But anyways... with some rewriting I had a great use of your concept, so thanks! /Erik S Hi!
