Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I thought Clement's was kind of funny in a silly, juvenile way, but appreciate more substantive comments also. :-) Hi, Jules! Thanks for your thoughtful comment. There are many types of dogs with those colour patterns. Besides, it has none of the rotty features apart from the colour, which is also kelpie colours, among many other dogs. Alertness in the face, shape of face and ears, patterns, and general body shape would suggest a kelpie. Granted, it can be almost impossible to tell what you dog is unless you actually see it being born. Then at least you know what the mother is! I'd say kelpie though. Good dogs. Very interesting! A couple of photos on those pages look a lot like Tory. My wife is skeptical, but I want to believe. It would be more fun to tell people she is an Australian Kelpie than a "Shepherd/Lab" mix. I'll check out the YouTube video later -- it's not working at the moment for me. Hi, Karen. When we got our guy from Animal Services they said Husky/German Shepherd Mix and put the age at 4 months. When we took him to the vet - they said no way four months - more like 2 and a half and that it was a Kelpie (the age difference was probably due to expected size of the mix they thought he was). Anyway we ended up doing some research and also took him to a Kelpie breeder who confirmed. Then as he grew if we had any doubts his herding instincts would have convinced us ;) Some Links - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Kelpie http://www.kelpiesinc.com/ http://www.arba.org/Breed%20Standards/Australian_Kelpie_Standard.htm Proof positive though is - does this look familiar --- > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q3eg70XFPk it’s an Australian Kelpie - I have one from the pound too. The humane society advertised her as a German Shepherd/Lab mix, but she clearly has some small dog in her also as that picture shows her full-grown and about 45 pounds. My wife thinks there is some Sheltie in her also by the way she acts. Hi, Derek. I'm curious because I have a mixed-breed puppy that looks exactly like it. What kind of dog is pictured above? I’m curious because I have a mixed-breed puppy that looks exactly like it.
