Yum! winetools is an unsupported third party tool, we don't recommend it. (winetricks, on the other hand, is a much simpler third party tool by yours truly; it's a commandline-only tool to keep the average joe from using it, but it's very handy for figuring out if native this or native that will help a particular problem.) I've had pretty good luck with the few VB6 programs I've tried so far. I'm really impressed with how well Wine works. It wasn't difficult to get started using it. (I did have trouble running winetools. I was going to take a stab at getting MS Money working also, and the directions I found said to use winetools to set up IE. I didn't spend a lot of time on it.) I had problems with one app that uses the rich text control: an "invalid property value" and an automation error. Worked around it by commenting out some "Sel" property settings. (.SelStart, .SelLength, .SelTabCount, .SelTabs, .SelLength) Thanks a lot for commenting and for the advice. I'll try to send some bug reports in, since you're looking for them. :-) Hi, Dan. For a grim look at the problems, see http://bugs.winehq.org/buglist.cgi?long_desc_type=substring&long_desc=vb6 That said, please let me know if you have trouble, maybe we can help. And well written bug reports are always welcome. One trick that often helps is loading native dcom98; see http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7816 for an example.
